August 20 Teasing the Furies!I am pleased to announce that the latest volume of A Plethora of Deities, Teasing the Furies is now available for download free at My e-Book Site. As has become normal at this time of year, I am nearly caught up on my proof reading, having only only book (Down Time Ltd. #5: Double Time) left to get into shape. How did I do that? Well, instead of writing this summer, I've been either busy plotting or off on vacation (and occasionally plotting). That means I'm all ready to write another two novels between now and the end of 2008, although at the moment, I am still working on the plot for the next A Plethora of Deities story, Inspiring the Muses. My writing schedule of the next few months is, September: Ars Scientiaque Magicae: Unexpected Reactions, November: The Pirates of Pangaea: An Accidental Alliance, January: The Wayfarers: A Continent without Form, March: A Plethora of Deities: Inspiring the Muses. In May I plan to write something, but I'm not sure if it will be Dancing with the Sphinx: Waltz, or something else. For that matter, while my plans for September are as certain as can be, after that I might change my mind. I don't do that often, but, I would hate to be predictable. <g> July 04 Caught Up At Last! For the first time since I started publishing on Lulu.com I am at last as close to having everything in print as I am likely to ever be. Four New Books in Print Ars Nova Magica Book Four - The Book of Candle The Wizard Candle has died a hero's death, but his students continue on and now it's up to them to Oceanvine, Sextant and their new students to save the world from the sinister One Maiyim conspiracy in a life-or-death battle in the thrilling conclusion of Ars Nova Magica. Dry Dock: A Story of Maiyim It's been thirty-five years since the fall of One Maiyim. Oceanvine and Saltspray decide to take a nice leisurely cruise around the islands, but while One Maiyim might be gone, someone is certainly making trouble out there. Hybrid Fantasy/Science Fiction, this story stands as a bridge bbetween the for Ars Nova Magica stories and the upcoming series: Ars Scientiaque Magicae. A Plethora of Deities V: Tempting the Fates Love is the watchword when goddess Inanna meets Michael Fulden. A pleasant chance encounter turns into a date and a romance, but love is never easy, even for the Goddess of Love and when she gets into an argument with the Moirae, those ancient Greek goddesses also known as the Fates, she finds herself living in interesting times. Off On a Tangent A comic romp in an alternate reality. It's a satire on Medieval-based fantasy (Learn why you don't want to walk into a "Fay bar"), with a lot of humor ("Be careful where you step. There have been elves here."), and some horrendous puns (Meet the Avant Gods!). This was the first book length story I ever wrote. My writing may have improved since then, but thisis certainly one of the funniest stories I've ever done. March 18 WordsHi. My name is Jonathan and I'm an author...
I'm not making fun of various Twelve Step programs. Writing is addictive, for me at least, and I'm always careful to take at least a month off between projects to give me time to pursue other interests. However, by the end of these brief hiatuses I'm generally itching to get back to stringing words together. It's something I enjoy doing and I do it fairly rapidly so that I generally am writing only an average of seven months out of each year. However what I really want to discuss in this post is how I rate my books at Lulu.com ( www.lulu.com/jonathan27 ): When I published my first book in print I was forced to consider what audience they were appropriate for. I don't swear very often and when I do, there's generally someone around who is shocked because they've never heard me talk that way. Most of my characters are the same. Most of them do not swear at all and the few who do do so only in times of stress. None of them use the "F" word in every breath even when in situations where people really do speak that way. I just don't feel the need to use the language that way, but I have occasionally had characters swear by excrement or tell someone to go the opposite direction of Heaven. It doesn't happen often or gratuitously but it does happen. Consequently, I have chosen to rate my stories at 13 and above for the simple reason that some people are more sensitive about language than I am when it comes to what children should be exposed to. I respect that. As it happens, I personally believe that anyone who can read at a sixth grade level can handle anything I've written regardless of age, but that's me. I don't have children so it's really not an issue for me. I do have friends with children and someof their children have read my books. No complaints so far, but each parent really has to make that decission for him or herself. Parents: you really should read what your children are reading for the same reason you should take a look at the television they watch. All my stories are available for free download in electronic form at www.sc2.com/e-books . You can read them on your computer or PDA so it only costs your time to make sure my stories are acceptable. And for those of us who really do prefer to read a real book in "dead tree" format with pages and paper and everything, I am gradually making them available in both paperback and hardcover at www.lulu.com/jonathan27 In the future I expect this blog will mostly announce the publication of new books both electronically and in traditional format, although I may also use it to answer those questions that come up frequently. Subscribing to the RSS feed for this blog will give you automatic announcements that I have something new available and I promise to try and not fill your feed readers with a lot of useless drivel.
Peace, Jonathan Feinstein |
